Perth shoegaze/dreampop band SONICA unveils their second EP Fractured Heart.

The sultry follow-up to Inception reveals the band’s emerging musical personality and diversity with three new tracks alongside a remastered version of their 2021 single ‘Wait for me’.

Recorded and mixed by Andy Hill at Elemental and mastered by Forensic Audio Mastering, the Fractured Heart EP matures and evolves the band’s shoegaze/dreampop crossover sound.

Opening track ‘Try’ blends anthemic and energetic post-punk and dark dreampop, with a wistful longing lyric continuing the band’s tradition of delving into the dark side of human relationships.

The melancholic theme continues with the stunning minimalist and atmospheric ‘Loved and Lost’. A haunting vocal engulfs the sparse guitars and hypnotic rhythm riffing on the bitter-sweetness of love which sometimes coming at great cost…

Singer and lyricist Claire Turton delivers an emotional and impassioned plea for time in a relationship in ‘Wait for Me’ with her remarkable vocal complemented by neo-psych wall of sound guitars, and underpinned by energetic post-punk rhythmic interplay.
 
Fractured Heart concludes with the rollicking crowd favourite ‘Glad’ - and the melancholic theme suddenly evaporates as the track explodes into life with the words “… I’m glad you’re unhappy!”
