I see you looking Looking for somewhere to go I see you searching But I already know You wont stay here We can’t keep you There’s too much Out there for you to do I see you looking searching moving leaving driving riding flying away I see you looking searching moving leaving driving riding flying away because You’re going places You’re going places We‘ve never seen before You’re going places You’ll see their faces You should take me with you TAKE ME WITH YOU You gotta keep moving Keep on moving on With you its like breathing Living in your own song Its part of your make up it s what makes you who you are One of the reasons we know that you’re a star I see you looking searching moving leaving driving riding flying away I see you looking searching moving leaving driving riding flying away because You’re going places You’re going places We ‘ve never seen before You’re going places You’ll see their faces Well you should take me with you Take ME WITH YOU

Life 03:39
Life comes along And it throws you a curve What do we do Do we get what we deserve Where do I go And how do I learn Will it present me With everything that I yearn? Is it fair The way it all works out Some get it all Some just scream and shout Is it unknown Will I get there? When I’m all grown What if it's all unfair? Where do you turn? When we all burn Who’ll save me now How do I get out? We’ll figure it out Everything’s hard and Everything's cheap I need more rest I just want to go to sleep Some fight for money Some fight to eat Some fight for rights That really should be free The struggle is real And its hard to deal Hands to them all It feels like a steal Each on their own And each for themself Quick grab someone Don’t be left on the shelf Where do you turn? When we all burn Who’ll save me now How do I get out? We’ll figure it out We’ll figure it out Thats life Is figuring out. Life, we’ll figure it out. Where do you turn? When we all burn Who’ll save me now How do I get out? We’ll figure it out

Charmed 06:19
Haven't you led such a charmed life? Stayed at the same schools You never broke the rules Had your friends since you were four Dad didn't walk out of the door Haven't you led such a charmed life? High school sweetheart didn't cheat You’ve always had plenty to eat Your house is very well kept For dead friends You've never wept Haven’t you led, such a charmed life? But what's it like to never know Just how far it is you'll go How much more that you can take Nothing on earth will make you break To experience is to bruise These lessons that I didn't choose They made me who I am today This strength is here, to stay You can keep your little charmed life As you peek out the window At the things you’ll never know All the people you won’t meet Ones you used to call a freak You can stay a little charmed wife Make sure that you stay fit Show just the right amount of wit Be the mother they all need Just remember, remember, remember to breathe… You can stay a little charmed wife But what's it like to never know Just how far it is you'll go How much more that you can take Nothing on earth will make you break To experience is to bruise These lessons that I didn't choose They made me who I am today This strength is here, to stay Are you happy with your charmed life? Watching as your hair turns grey Plodding through another day Wondering how much you have lost Being charmed comes at a cost Are you happy with your charmed life? Now the kids are all long gone Even hubby has moved on Gave them everything you had Now you’re here just feeling sad Well don't forget that you led your charmed life! Don’t forget you had a charmed life Aren’t you glad you had a charmed life Everyone wants a charmed life Keep looking for that charmed life

I can’t help but feel, that we’re not alright I can’t help but see, that you’re out all night What is it you seek, when you don’t come home Why is it when I’m with you….I feel more alone? Is there more I could do? Why can’t I break through Is it me, is it you? Descend into Blue Though you’re standing near, you feel far away I know I cannot leave you, yet I cannot stay I think I’m going crazy, out of my mind Imagining that each day…. you’ll leave me behind Is there more I could do? Why can’t I break through Is it me is it you? Descend into Blue What if I could stop you, from leaving again What if I could keep you, here till the end What if I just held you, all the night through I tell you now there’s nothing…. that I won’t do It’s the least I could do To finally break through Gift from me and to you Your decent into Blue Descend into Black We need never come back I descend into blue I did this for you. I did this for you I did this for you I did this for you Our descent into Blue.

about

Perth shoegaze/dreampop band SONICA unveils their first EP Inception.

Taking the listener on a journey through Sonica’s versatility and musical influences, Inception blends observational lyrical vignettes with hauntingly atmospheric, melodic and sometimes anarchic backdrops.

The first of two EPs to be released in 2022, Inception features a remastered version of the band’s debut single, ‘Descent into Blue’, plus 3 previously unreleased tracks.

Recorded and mixed by Andy Hill at Elemental and mastered by Forensic Audio Mastering, the Inception EP firmly establishes the band’s dreampop/shoegaze crossover credentials.

The EP erupts with the driving indie anthem ‘Places’ which in true Sonica style, balances a melodic verse with a crushing wall of sound chorus.

Singer and lyricist Claire describes ‘Places' as ”…seeing someone you love succeeding and reaching out for more experiences.”

A nod to elegant late 80s UK indie guitar sounds, Inception’s second track ‘Life’ describes some universal struggles about asking where to turn, coming to the conclusion that “we’ll figure it out’!

A wash of neo-psych reverb-drenched guitars introduces ‘Charmed’ which takes the listener back to the heyday of 90s shoegaze and the band’s Cocteau Twins inspired heritage.

A dark and dystopian look from the outside on those with the ‘perfect life’, Charmed challenges the listener to reflect on whether having everything handed to you puts you in a better – or worse – position…

The Inception EP concludes with a re-mastered version of the band’s 2020 debut single ‘Descent into Blue’.

Kicking off with Roshan Weddikkara’s iconic booming bassline, Claire plaintively traces the journey of a failing relationship to its bitter end, punctuated by subtle interplays with guitarist Alan Pettigrew’s detailed harmonics and Sylvain Ayrault’s elegant percussion and cascades to a violent and chaotic conclusion.

“Descent is about a dying relationship and the pain of lying next to someone and feeling more alone as a result. It follows recognising the sadness in your partner as they descend into blue and it eventually dragging you down too, until you both descend into chaos, together,” said Claire.

A second EP will be released later in 2022, and the band is already writing new material for future releases.
