Perth 4-piece retro-alternative outfit SONICA drops a unique slice of dark atmospheric dreampop with their debut single ‘Descent into Blue’.

Kicking off with Roshan Weddikkara’s iconic booming bassline, singer Claire Turton plaintively traces the journey of a failing relationship to its bitter end, punctuated by subtle interplays with guitarist Alan Pettigrew’s detailed harmonics and Sylvain Ayrault’s elegant percussion.

‘Descent into Blue’ is a showstopper at the band’s live shows, where the audience are drawn in by the track’s effects soaked light and dark shades which cascade towards a violent and chaotic close.

Produced by Tom Ford at ToneCity, ‘Descent into Blue’ gives a nod to SONICA’s 80s post-punk and shoegaze roots while appealing to a diverse audience.
